Guided tour of Odense FjordTake a time trip along the Odense Fjord! Once upon a time, it was the waves that prevailed along the coast of Odense Fjord. The locals lived in rural towns and farms on small islands or close to the coast, and they were plagued by malaria and frequent floods. In the 19th century, the fight against water masses was taken up. With shovels and buckets they built dykes, pumped the water away and conquered lands from the fjord. Funen grew, while Odense Fjord became smaller.
Hear the stories of the brave men and women who fought against the forces of nature to contain the lands. Hear about the enormous forces that could destroy the levees in a storm, and about the stubbornness and ingenuity needed to overcome the obstacles.
